Hydrating Smoothies to Brighten Up Your Winter

Staying hydrated is crucial for maintaining good health — we know this. But sometimes we get a little tired of reaching for our plain ol’ glass of water. While plain water keeps us hydrated, sometimes you might want a little more flavor, nutrition, and excitement. That’s where smoothies come in! Not only are they a refreshing way to hydrate, but they provide additional fiber, nutrients, and minerals that can work in benefit to your body’s electrolyte balance. 

We’re highlighting three of our favorite recipes — Green Goddess, Berry Blast, and Strawberry Watermelon. Each packed with hydrating, nutritious ingredients meant to work in tandem with your Lyte Balance electrolytes. Let’s dive in:

Green Goddess Smoothie: 

1 cup baby spinach

1 cup chopped cucumber

1 banana

1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks

1/2 avocado

1/2 Lime juiced

1 capful Lyte Balance

1 cup  coconut water


Why this smoothie is great — Cucumbers and coconut water are both high in water content, while spinach and pineapple provide additional hydration and are rich in antioxidants and vitamins. Avocado adds healthy fats to help with absorption of these nutrients.

Berry Blast Smoothie: 

1 cup of frozen blueberries

1/2 cup frozen raspberries

1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt

1 banana

1/2 cup of oat milk

1 capful  Lyte Balance

1-2 tablespoon of honey (adjust for personal preference)


Why this smoothie is great — Blueberries are a great source of hydration and are rich in antioxidants, while Greek yogurt provides protein and calcium. Consuming dairy products alongside electrolytes is beneficial for absorption because dairy contains calcium, which is an important mineral that helps with the absorption and retention of electrolytes in the body. Banana adds additional hydration and natural sweetness, while almond milk is a great source of electrolytes. Honey adds a touch of sweetness without any artificial sweeteners.

Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie: 

1 cup of watermelon chunks

1 cup of frozen strawberries

1 banana

1 capful  Lyte Balance

1/2 cup of coconut water


Why this smoothie is great — Watermelon and coconut water are both high in electrolytes, which help to replenish the body's fluids and maintain hydration levels. Strawberries and bananas are also great sources of water and provide additional nutrients like vitamin C.
